Which XML does the converter support?

XML is a general markup language used for many kinds of information. Here, XML conversion means editing interchange: FCP7 XML (xmeml) and supported basic FCPXML. These formats describe clips and timeline positions. They are different from sitemaps, invoices or generic XML data.

Editing and conform workflows

A file extension alone does not guarantee a complete project transfer. Plan the handoff around the receiving application, media references and features that must survive.

Before you convert

  1. Confirm the source format, sequence frame rate and timecode convention.
  2. Open the file and read any unsupported-structure findings.
  3. Keep the video and audio tracks required by the handoff selected.
  4. Review cumulative changes in Side-by-Side, then approve and export.
  5. Relink and compare the result with reference picture in the receiving editor.

Metadata conversion, with explicit limits

EDL Toolbox does not render video, turn XML into MP4, extract AAF media or recreate native project effects. AAF output uses offline references. Complex audio, transitions, retiming and unsupported structures block conversion rather than disappearing silently. Original files remain unchanged.
