Purpose and supported use
EDL Toolbox provides browser tools to inspect, clean, organize and exchange edit-list metadata for editorial, color, VFX and conform workflows. The current format reference defines the supported subset of each format.
Read format support and limitationsKeep your source and check the handoff
Keep your original files. Operations change a working copy; export it to save your result. Review source and working result before approval, then verify the exported timeline against the source in the receiving application before relying on it for a production handoff.
EDL, XML and AAF represent different kinds of timeline information. A conversion is not a guarantee that every native application feature, effect, audio mapping or media reference transfers. Unsupported structures can block export. Exported XML and AAF may need relinking; no media is rendered or transferred.
Your project material
Open only files you are entitled to use. EDL Toolbox does not acquire ownership of your edit lists or media. Remove confidential information before sending a support example.
Availability and changes
Supported workflows may change as the tool develops. Working copies are not a backup service and are not retained after the page session ends. Use the guides for current behavior and contact us when a result differs from the documented workflow.
