What it does
Reels & Usage replaces every matching reel identifier across all tracks and exports a CSV grouped by reel. The report includes event count, total referenced source frames, elapsed duration, earliest Source In and latest Source Out.
When and why to use it
Reel names help identify and relink source material. A consistent naming scheme can make a conform or scanning handoff clearer. The usage report provides an overview of which rolls appear in the list and how much edited material references each one.
A practical example
Rename CAM_A to A001 when the supplied media or agreed reel convention uses A001. Export the CSV to see how many events reference that reel and the outer bounds of its source range.
How to use it
- Select a source reel and enter the replacement without spaces.
- Inspect the live rename in Side-by-Side. Confirm that it changes only matching reels while any other pending operations have their intended effects.
- Export a reel usage CSV for the current active track.
What to check before a handoff
Used frames is the sum of event durations, including repeated or overlapping source usage; it is not a count of unique frames to scan. The source bounds can include unused material between events. Renaming a reel does not rename media files or guarantee relinking.
