What it does

Frame Rate Conversion supports 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 59.94 and 60 fps. Choose NDF at any listed rate, or DF at 29.97 and 59.94. Preserve elapsed time rescales addresses using exact rational rates. Preserve frame count keeps each frame address numerically fixed.

When and why to use it

The correct method depends on the handoff. Preserving elapsed time keeps edits near the same wall-clock positions. Preserving frame count is useful when the media will be played at a different rate without changing its frame sequence, or when changing only DF/NDF display convention at the same playback rate.

A practical example

An hour address at 29.97 DF is frame 107892. Changing to 29.97 NDF while preserving frames displays 00:59:56:12. The address labels change; the frame and its elapsed position do not.

How to use it

  1. Confirm the input interpretation first. Choose Output frame rate, then select NDF or DF separately under Timecode numbering.
  2. Select the timing method required by the recipient.
  3. Review the rounding note and complete working result in Side-by-Side, then approve the batch. Rate changes affect the entire document.

What to check before a handoff

This converts edit-list timing, not video or audio media. For video-only timelines, elapsed-time conversion rounds boundaries to whole output frames. With audio, any required audio rounding blocks conversion; changing playback rate while preserving audio frame counts also requires unsupported audio retiming; very short events can become unrepresentable and are rejected. Source and record labels should be checked against the intended media workflow.
