What it does
Remove Elements separates user notes, FROM/TO CLIP NAME comments, ASC_SOP/ASC_SAT CDL metadata, recognized R-mark lines, audio-only events and additional headers. Each category is selected independently. The operation defaults to the entire timeline, with explicit active-track or selected-event scopes; header removal applies to the document. EDL output contains no empty or whitespace-only lines; retained comments stay directly below their event.
When and why to use it
Some interchange workflows need a compact list, while others rely on clip names or grading metadata. Selective cleanup lets you prepare the list for the recipient without deleting every comment as one undifferentiated block.
A practical example
A scanner operator needs source and record ranges plus reel identifiers. Remove free-text notes while retaining clip-name comments for reconciliation. Leave CDL checked off if the list will also be used to pass grading information.
How to use it
- Choose the categories to remove. User notes are selected initially.
- Choose the entire timeline, active track or selected events. Adjusting settings includes this operation in the live result; use Add to review for the displayed defaults.
- Confirm in Side-by-Side that required clip names, CDL comments and audio edits remain, then approve the combined batch.
What to check before a handoff
R-mark removal targets recognized comment lines, not every vendor-specific reverse-motion representation. M2 speed instructions are retained. Combined CMX video/audio rows are separated into typed tracks. Audio is removed only when explicitly selected; Audio settings above the table adds an explicit exclusion to the shared review. Remove that pending step or undo its approved batch to restore audio. TITLE, FCM and the current FPS declaration are retained.
